You’ve probably heard a lot about how to earn passive income online, and maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the options. Or, maybe you’re like me and get really excited by the potential when you find something that’s genuine and legitimate. Either way, you might be wondering whether Amazon is the best way to get started in e-commerce. Is it even possible (and not a bunch of hype) to make a sustainable income on Amazon?
I’m here to cut through the hype and share real results and why I think Amazon is the best way to earn a passive income online in 2017. Our company has been in the business for a few years and now do $60+ million in sales per year—and it was all something that started in someone’s garage! We’re now one of Amazon’s largest sellers, and they’ve even invited us to visit their headquarters in Seattle. It’s a great partnership that gives us an inside perspective on how to be successful in the Amazon world.
But it’s not just our own success that makes me passionate about helping beginners see that it’s possible to earn a real, sustainable income through Amazon. When you look at the numbers, you’ll see that there’s incredible growth potential in this market.
Here are 3 trends that will help you see that right now is the perfect time to jump on board with Amazon!
1) E-commerce is still in its infancy.
I’m constantly reading news about eCommerce and Amazon business, so I feel like I’m living and breathing this stuff. But these numbers still blow me away.
Think about this: E-commerce still only makes up 12% of all commerce, which is incredible when you think about how much Amazon is dominating. In 2018, e-commerce is projected to be 15% of all commerce, and five years from now, it is projected to be 30% of all commerce.
What this means is that we’re still in the early stages!
2) Amazon is dominating the e-commerce game.
Probably every other day, I see some kind of article about the power of Amazon. The Amazon platform is already bigger than the next ten biggest e-commerce platforms combined (including companies like Walmart and eBay). And you’ve probably seen the news about Amazon buying Whole Foods this year. Amazon has changed the game, and they’ve made it possible for us to directly participate.
Amazon is allowing you as an individual to leverage their platform and take advantage of this growing trend towards e-commerce. It’s a really exciting space to be in!
3) Mobile e-commerce is growing rapidly.
I don’t have to tell you how mobile is part of our daily lives. You and I, and most people around us, are on our phones consistently throughout the day. They’re not just a way to call or text anymore—people rely on their phones for information, navigation, and to purchase things easily on the go.
When you look at the actual numbers here as well, it’s incredible to see the rapid growth over the past few years. Mobile e-commerce is projected to triple from what it was in 2014 to what it will be in 2018 (from $200 billion to $600 billion).
And Amazon is by far the easiest way people to purchase goods by mobile. If you want to buy something, you know that you’ll probably be able to find it on Amazon (and do so quickly). They make it so easy to purchase on the go. With a click, it’s in your cart, and in a couple of days, it’s on your doorstep.
It’s amazing how powerful mobile is and the potential for growth in the next few years.
For all these reasons, I think this is an exciting time to get started with selling on Amazon. I call the time we’re in the “Amazon gold rush.”
Over the next several years, there are going to be waves of people coming to the platform because there’s so much financial opportunity. There are plenty of legitimate opportunities in e-commerce, but I strongly believe that Amazon is the place to be.
